ISLAMABAD: Canada is all set to deport 700 Indian students whose admission offer letters to the educational institutions were found to be fake.

The students have received deportation notifications from the Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA), in what is being termed as one-of-its-kind fake admission cases. According to the media reports, these students were involved in generating fake ‘admission offer letters’ to secure entry into the North American country.

The matter came to light when the students applied for permanent residency (PR) after the completion of their studies for which the ‘admission offer letters’ came under scrutiny. The Border Security Agency examined the documents based on which the students were issued visas and found that the offer letters were fake. These students had gone to Canada on study visas in 2018-19.

Indian students have already completed studies

The Canadian officials said that majority of the students had already completed their studies, got work permits and also gained work experience as well. The students had applied for study visas via Jalandhar-based Education Migration Services, run by Brijesh Mishra. He used to charge around ₹16 lakh from the students for all their expenses in Canada, including admission fees to the institutes. Air tickets and security deposits, however, were not included in the payment.
