OTTAWA: The Canadian government said on Monday it was imposing fresh sanctions on 12 senior officials from Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces (LEF) and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for their participation in “systematic and gross human rights violations.”

Canada’s foreign ministry said in a statement that the targeted officials include Commander of Basij paramilitary forces in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province Governor Esmaeil Zarei Kousha and Morteza Mir Aghaei, Kurdistan Province.
