OTTAWA: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Friday that Canada is providing Ukraine with additional weapons, which he says will help Kyiv win on the battlefield against Russia.
Trudeau says Canada will donate four more Leopard 2 main battle tanks to help Ukrainian Armed Forces, growing Canada’s contribution to eight battle tanks in total.
Canada will also donate over 5,000 rounds of ammunition and an armoured recovery vehicle.
Canada for more sanctions on Russia
Trudeau committed to imposing more sanctions on people and businesses complicit in Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine.
On the first anniversary of the invasion, Trudeau called Russian President Vladimir Putin a coward and weak and reiterated that Canada is a friend of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters in a Friday press conference that more weapons would allow his people to regain their territory.
