In the Hollywood Hills, California mountain lions are elusive celebrities, revered by photographers lucky enough to catch a glimpse. Yet, in Los Angeles, their habitat faces encroachment from urbanization, highways, and increasing risks of extreme weather linked to human-induced climate change. An ambitious initiative is now underway northwest of Los Angeles to mitigate humanity’s impact on these majestic creatures: the construction of the world’s largest wildlife crossing. AFP
