Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will preside over a special meeting of the federal cabinet today to discuss the appointment of next Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and other important matters.
The meeting will be held at the Prime Minister office. According to the sources, the meeting will also consider proposed amendments in the Army Act related to important appointments. The PM is likely to dispatch a summary to President Arif Alvi today regarding the key appointments.
Approval of the establishment of the National Institute for Intelligence and Security Studies at Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad is also part of the agenda of the meeting while interfaith harmony policy will also be presented to the federal cabinet for approval. A day ago, the ruling coalition reposed its complete trust in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over whomever he picks as the next army chief and chairman joint chiefs of staff committee.
