All arrangements have been finalized for Sunday’s by polls in 11 constituencies including 8 National Assembly and 3 Punjab Assembly seats.
These by-elections are being held in three provinces where seats of National Assembly and Provincial Assembly are vacant. In Punjab, it will be held on three seats of National and three of the Provincial Assembly which are vacant, in Sindh two seats of National Assembly while in KPK also three National Assembly seats.
A total of 101 candidates from different political parties and independents are fighting for the victory in these by polls. These candidates include 52 in Punjab, 33 in Sindh and 16 in KP. According to Election Commission of Pakistan, about 4.472 million people are registered voters in these constituencies.
The ECP said that adequate number of police and security personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order on election day. In Punjab, 1,434 polling stations are being set up that include 979 in KP and 340 in Karachi. The election campaign has already ended on Friday.
Imran Khan has led his party’s campaign well, while PML-N’s senior leader, Maryam Nawaz, who led all the previous election campaigns, is in London to see her father Nawaz Sharif.
In Punjab, PTI won 15 out of 20 seats in the provincial assembly in the last by elections held in July 2022.
The constituencies where by-polls will be held are: NA-22 Mardan-III, NA-24 Charsadda-II, NA-31 Peshawar-V, NA-108 Faisalabad-VIII, NA-118 Nankana Sahib-II, NA-157 Multan-IV, NA-237 Malir-II, NA-239 Korangi Karachi-I, PP-241 Bahawalnagar-V; PP-209 Khanewal-VII, and PP-139 Sheikhupura-V.
