Budget 2023-24: Sales Tax on Edible Oil Abolished

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar unveiled the federal budget 2023-24 in the National Assembly on Friday, announcing the decision to abolish sales tax on cooking and edible oils.

According to the finance bill, a decision has been taken to increase the sales tax on leather and textile products through the point of sale.

The rate of sales tax on POS has also been increased from 12 to 15 percent.

Moreover, the government decided to take all measures to prevent the smuggling of essential goods, and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and special forces would actively work in this regard.

It is proposed to increase the punishments against those who traffic in prohibited goods.
