LAHORE: The cabinet meeting presided over by Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday approved a 30 per cent ad hoc increase in salaries of government employees.
Pensioners above 80 years would get a 20 per cent increase in their pensions.
A decision had been made to end all duties and taxes to promote the information technology business and education. 70 billion rupees had been allocated for providing relief to people in 4 months.
The cabinet also rejected the recommendation to raise stamp duty up to 3 percent and approved fixing the ratio of stamp duty to 1 percent for the development of construction sector.
In addition, the cabinet also reserved more than 47 billion rupees for the agriculture sector.
Ongoing projects in Punjab
The interim government also decided to complete 50 percent of ongoing development projects in the first 4 months of new financial year.
The provincial cabinet also allocated 16 billion rupees to make the power plant functional which was closed in 2017 and green-lighted up to 31 percent increase in education and health budget for 4 months of the new financial year.
The cabinet approved to establish an information technology park in Lahore Knowledge Park. It also greenlighted the establishment of the endowment fund with 1 billion rupees for journalists.
Punjab Interim CM Mohsin Naqvi said on the occasion that no new tax had been imposed in the provincial budget.
He commended the Punjab chief secretary, Punjab finance secretary, Planning and Development Board chairman, and the team for preparing people-friendly budget.
The provincial ministers, secretaries, and advisors and relevant departments participated in the meeting.
