ISLAMABAD: Chakkrid Krachaiwon, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, on Tuesday inaugurated a gold-plated gallery with bulletproof glasses to display Lord Buddha’s bone relics at Taxila museum.
The gallery was gifted and installed by the government of Thailand with multiple safety and security features to keep the unique relics secure.
The ambassador said that the installation of the gallery was to mark the 71st year of Pak-Thai diplomatic ties.
Container with bone relic
He said that the container in which the bone relics were preserved is designed as a symbol of goodwill and long-standing diplomatic and cordial ties between the two countries that have the similarity of history and culture. He termed the gallery as the symbol of interfaith harmony.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Additional Secretary Asia and Pacific, said on the occasion that the relations between Pakistan and Thailand are deep-rooted. The gallery gift and the 3-month long stay of Sangha Supreme Council chief Buddhist Arayawangso is the proof of strong bilateral relations.
