ISLAMABAD: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Service Peshawar has received the award of the finalist of the ‘Prize for Cities’ in a ceremony held in Newyork, said the spokesman of TransPeshawar here on Thursday.
He further said Zu Peshawar won a cash award of $25,000 Dollars for being selected among the five best projects of the World Resources Institute. Fayyaz Ahmad Khan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) TransPeshawar, received the award from the officials while representing Zu Peshawar.
Award for BRT Peshawar
TransPeshawar is the operator of BRT Peshawar. A total of 260 projects from 175 cities in 65 countries were scrutinized for the Award of the Prize for Cities.
During the award ceremony, Zu Peshawar, particularly its services for bringing a positive impact in the lives of the people of Peshawar and especially of the marginalized segments of society, was appreciated globally.
The Theme of the award for this year was ‘Thriving Together in Turbulent Times,’ and the projects which have brought a change and have made the lives of the masses easy during the Covid-19 pandemic were included in the contest.
BRT Peshawar started its services during the Covid-19 pandemic in the month of August 2020 and provided traveling facilities to about 54 million commuters during that period.
