PESHAWAR: Nasrullah Mehsud, the brother of former Inspector General of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police Salahuddin Mehsud, was tragically killed after a brief abduction by unknown armed men in the Tank district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, the victim was traveling from Tank Bazaar to his residence in his vehicle after Friday prayers when unidentified armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on him near the customs pump. The firing resulted in the injury of Nasrullah Mehsud’s guard, Syed Amal, who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The armed men forcibly abducted Nasrullah during the incident.
Subsequently, Nasrullah Mehsud’s body was discovered in the Manzai area.
Tank District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmad stated that as soon as the police were informed about the incident, they initiated a pursuit of the abductors. A confrontation occurred, leading to damage to a police vehicle. The abductors took Mehsud to Manzai, which is located approximately 14 km from Tank, where he was fatally shot. Tragically, the guard also succumbed to his injuries.
Nasrullah Mehsud was the brother of Salahuddin Mehsud, who held the position of IG KP from 2017 to 2019 and served as Frontier Constabulary Commandant, currently serving as an OSD.
Three Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan District
In another incident, three young boys were killed, and two others were wounded during gunfire at a marriage ceremony in the Chota Dattakhel Barkili area of the North Waziristan district. Police revealed that the deceased fell victim to the firing of their uncle. Reportedly, the bridegroom, their uncle, started firing indiscriminately at his nephews during the marriage rituals. The deceased children were aged between 8 and 14 years. The injured youngsters were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Relatives of the accused informed the police that the bridegroom was grappling with mental instability. Despite this, he managed to flee the scene following the tragic incident.
