LONDON, England: British police have charged 18-year-old Rex William Henry Clark and 19-year-old Sofija Vinogradova with terrorism offenses following an investigation into suspected extreme right-wing activities.

The investigation, which led to the arrests, is unrelated to recent riots and racist attacks that occurred across the UK after the tragic deaths of three young girls in Southport on July 29.

Clark, from Ilford, East London, faces charges related to the preparation of terrorist acts. Vinogradova, from Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, is charged with preparation of terrorist acts and two counts of collecting information likely to aid such acts. Initially arrested in early August on suspicion of possessing a firearm, Vinogradova was released on bail but rearrested on August 10.

Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met Police’s counter-terrorism command, reassured the public that there is no wider threat connected to this investigation. The pair are set to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court later today.
