KARACHI: United Kingdom has gifted two latest security scanners to Pakistan for the security of airports on Thursday.
The scanners worth of 60 million Rupees would be installed at Karachi and Lahore airports to detect illicit items in passenger baggage.
The British High Commission handed over the scanners to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority in a ceremony held at Karachi airport and attended by the British High Commissioner Jane Marriott.
Speaking at the event, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott said “I’m delighted to hand over these state-of-the-art airport security scanners, a demonstration of UK support for security at Pakistan’s airports.”
‘Security Scanners to Ensure Safe Travel’
Both British and Pakistani nationals traveling from Pakistan to the UK and other destinations will be protected by this technology. She stated, “We all want travelers to fly safely and securely, and this new technology means that travelers may fly from Pakistan with greater confidence.
The ability of the diaspora to travel and increase trade between the UK and Pakistan is made possible by aviation. Increasing aviation safety brings Pakistan and the UK closer together.
She said that Pakistan and UK have a unique and enduring tie as more than 1.6 million people in the UK are Pakistanis, which makes every part of the British society.
She said providing scanners is a small portion of the ongoing aviation collaboration between the UK and Pakistan that is assisting in raising security and safety standards.
