ISLAMABAD: The British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, emphasized the significance of empowering Pakistan’s youth to take the lead in addressing contemporary challenges, particularly climate change.
These remarks were made during an event organized by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in Islamabad in celebration of ‘International Youth Day.’
“The VSO’s celebration acknowledges the accomplishments of Pakistan’s dynamic youth and underscores the importance of ensuring that every child receives a quality education,” stated the envoy.
Seher Afsheen, the Country Representative of VSO, highlighted the organization’s objectives, which include formalizing and enhancing the existing Volunteer Policy. She also emphasized the invaluable support provided by the UK.
Afsheen stressed that education plays a vital role in empowering youth to contribute to the nation’s development prospects.
VSO Role in Youth Empowerment
VSO is a leading international development charity that operates through volunteers to create a fair world for all. Since 1987, VSO has been actively involved in Pakistan, with over three decades of engaging the skills and expertise of 300 international volunteers and more than 3,000 national and community volunteers to support various initiatives, including livelihood, education, participation, governance, resilience, and youth development.
