ISLAMABAD: The British Council on Tuesday announced to organize Going Global Asia Pacific conference from November 28 to December 1, in Singapore.
The conference will be aimed at providing a strategic forum for leading figures in the field of education to share knowledge and build a global network for shaping the future of higher education in the world.
It would be the first-ever regional edition of the Council’s flagship Going Global conference. It would also mark the 75th anniversary of the British Council’s presence in Singapore and its key role in advancing the growth story of the city-state through its memorable work in Culture, Arts, English language, and education.
The theme of the event will be International Education in the United Kingdom and Asia Pacific. It will explore ways to pursue equity in an unequal world that is a key topic at a time when inequalities in educational opportunities are rising due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The purpose of the conference would be to reimagine the future of education and build more interconnected, inclusive, and stronger education systems to benefit the people of UK and the Asia Pacific region.
Conference to be attended by 200 leading figures in-person

The conference will also have live stream sessions along with in-person ones. The in-person sessions would be attended by 200 leading figures in the education sector from 20 states and territories, representing more than 140 organizations in Britain and Asia Pacific.
Director of Education British Council Maddalaine Ansell will inaugurate the event while the British Government’s International Education Champion Sir Steve Smith will also participate.
Its main themes include addressing gender gaps in higher education, how higher education institutions can contribute to climate action, the context for education in a changing world, and others. –APP
