LONDON: In a bid to promote peace and stability in the Middle East, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak embarked on a diplomatic mission, including visits to Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt on Friday.

Sunak’s primary focus during this tour has been to address the recent escalation of violence in the region, particularly in the aftermath of the Hamas attack on Gaza.

Rishi Sunak, following in the footsteps of other Western leaders, paid a visit to Jerusalem to demonstrate support for Israel and work toward securing the release of hostages held by Hamas. The situation in the region remains tense, and addressing this issue is crucial for de-escalation and the provision of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

During his visit to the Middle East, Prime Minister Sunak had a significant meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia. Sunak encouraged the Saudi leader to use the nation’s influential position to support regional stability. This appeal underscores the international concern that the Hamas attack and Israel’s response may lead to wider regional unrest.

As part of his diplomatic mission, Rishi Sunak is scheduled to meet with key officials in Egypt. His primary message revolves around the importance of preventing further escalation in the region and avoiding unnecessary loss of civilian lives. Sunak’s emphasis on regional stability is in line with the broader international effort to bring about lasting peace and security in the Middle East.
