BEIJING: The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) not only provides a conceptual framework but also a practical roadmap for all countries to achieve shared development and prosperity, said a white paper released by China’s State Council Information Office on Tuesday.
The white paper, titled “The Belt and Road Initiative: A Key Pillar of the Global Community of Shared Future,” highlighted the principles, visions, concepts, and objectives of the initiative.
It said that the BRI is founded on the principles of extensive consultation, shared benefit, and joint contribution. The initiative emphasizes that all nations are equal participants, contributors, and beneficiaries, and encourages interconnected development, economic integration, and the sharing of achievements.
BRI Committed to Clean, Green Cooperation
The BRI is committed to open, clean, and green cooperation towards inclusive and sustainable development. It has zero tolerance for corruption and promotes high-quality and steady growth, according to the white paper.
It said that the BRI is a public path open to all, not a private road owned by any single party. The initiative embraces the international trend of green and low-carbon development, and clean governance is considered a necessary and intrinsic condition for its steady and sustained development.
The initiative pursues sustainability, high standards, and better lives by raising cooperation standards, supply quality, investment effectiveness, and development resilience, delivering substantive and real results for all participants.
BRI’s People-centered Approach
The BRI takes a people-centered approach, with a focus on job creation, poverty eradication, and improvement of people’s well-being to ensure that the benefits of cooperation reach all people, said the white paper.
Aiming to deepen trust and understanding, strengthen comprehensive exchanges, and ultimately achieve shared development and mutual prosperity, the BRI is a path to openness, peace, prosperity, innovation, and social progress, it said.
