Cafiero described Lula’s visit on Twitter as a “great boost for our bilateral relationship” and underscored the Brazilian leader’s “commitment to strengthening Mercosur and CELAC”.

Mercosur, and the Southern Common Market, is a South American political bloc and economy whose full members are Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil.

On Twitter, Lula said that on Sunday night, “intense work” lies ahead in restoring the relationship between the two Latin American countries.

He could meet today with Alberto Fernandez, Argentine President, to strengthen relations between their countries.
