ISLAMABAD: Brazilian Ambassador to Pakistan, Olyntho Vieira, met with Dr. Nadeem Jan, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Health, and discussed Health Priorities, mutual cooperation, and bilateral relations matters on Monday.
During the meeting, the Brazilian ambassador extended his congratulations to the minister on assuming his responsibilities. He highlighted that the appointment of a globally recognized public health expert represents a positive step forward for the health sector.
Dr. Nadeem Jan emphasized the deep and strong relations between Pakistan and Brazil, noting that trade relations and cooperation between the two countries are commendable.
Pakistan’s Polio Eradicating Efforts
Addressing health priorities, the minister stated, “Our commitment is resolute in eradicating polio from the country. We will take immediate actions to achieve this goal, bolstering the global health security framework.”
He further explained that comprehensive measures are in place to ensure universal health coverage. An integrated strategy has been devised to safeguard against epidemics, he added.
Dr. Nadeem Jan highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize healthcare facilities in hospitals across the country.
In the context of health emergencies, he mentioned that Border Health Services are being reinforced to effectively manage epidemics. “We are committed to adhering to the recommendations outlined in the International Health Regulations,” he stated.
Concluding his remarks, the minister underscored his mission to pursue a developmental and prosperous agenda under the leadership of the caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan.
