ISLAMABAD/SAO PAULO: Brazil is poised to register record wheat shipments for January as local suppliers continue to fill the void left by main exporters including Ukraine which is under attack from Russia, industry sources said.
Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s biggest wheat producer, said that the combination of the bumper harvest and production hiccups in Argentina due to the drought bolstered Brazilian local exporters, particularly in Based on shipping schedules, the National Association of Cereal Exporters projected wheat exports at 803,800 tons.

According to Anec data, if confirmed, the volume could represent a new historic high for a month, compared to the last record of 695,900 tons registered in 2022.
Anec Director-General Sergio Mendes has said that Brazil is a big exporter and producer of grains. He said that when you earn credibility from the trade of soybean, you start to expand to other products.
According to Mendes, grain international importers see Brazil as a reliable supplier, and this favors exporters.
Indonesia, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia buy around 50 per cent of Brazilian local wheat exports. Mendes said that Vietnam was also a prominent buyer.
Mendes said that the maintenance of shipments to these countries with whom we maintain commercial ties leads to the belief that things are progressing.
Brazil’s growing local wheat exports still pale in comparison to Ukraine’s 13-million-ton export as estimated by the United States Department of Agriculture for the 2022-2023 season.
