Brazil Aims to Stop Escalation of Conflict in Middle East: Lula Says

NEW YORK: Brazil expresses hope to stop the escalation of the conflict between Hamas and Israel, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated on Saturday, following his country called for an emergency meeting of the UNSC to resolve the crisis.

Earlier, Brazil, the current chair of the UN Security Council, has announced that it will call an emergency meeting of the body to address the intensifying violence in the reigon.

In a statement issued by Brazil’s Foreign Ministry called for restraint from all parties involved, emphasizing the critical need to de-escalate the situation. The escalating violence has raised significant concerns globally, prompting swift action from the United Nations Security Council. The Brazilian government strongly condemned the escalation.

Diplomatic Efforts to Deescalate Between Israel and Palestine

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged for diplomatic efforts to prevent the conflict in the Middle East from widening. He urged all diplomatic efforts to avoid a wider conflagration. He added that only through talks leading to a two-state solution could peace be achieved.
