Bosnia Grand Mufti, Pakistan Agree to Promote Peace and Religious Harmony

ISLAMABAD: The Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Hussain, met with Pakistan Secretary of Religious Affairs Dr. Syed Ata-ur-Rehman.

He was accompanied by the Ambassador of Bosnia, Honorary Consul General of Bosnia, and Senior Joint Secretary of Religious Affairs, Alamgir Khan.

The meeting focused on collaborative efforts to promote peace, enhance education, foster religious harmony, and combat Islamophobia. The Bosnian delegation received copies of Paigham-e-Pakistan and Sermons of the National Sirat-un-Nabi Conference in English.

Secretary Dr. Syed Atta-ur-Rehman highlighted the deep cultural, historical, and religious ties between Bosnia and Pakistan. He expressed willingness to formalize collaboration through a memorandum of understanding covering various initiatives like religious education, translation projects, delegation exchanges, and bilateral cooperation.

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral relations through governmental and public-level exchanges, Secretary Dr. Syed Atta-ur-Rehman discussed the significance of mutual learning opportunities, especially in areas such as Hajj, Auqaf, and religious education.

Mufti Azam Bosnia Dr. Hussain expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s contributions to peacekeeping efforts in Bosnia and United Nations welfare missions. He also highlighted the educational connections, mentioning that many key figures in Bosnia had received education in Pakistan.

Dr. Hussain proposed further opportunities for mutual learning, particularly in religious education and cultural exchanges. Concluding the meeting, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia extended warm greetings to Pakistani brethren for Ramazan and Independence Day, reaffirming the strong bond between the two nations.
