NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Member of Parliament, on Saturday visited his parliamentary constituency in Kerala’s Wayanad, where he lashed out at the ruling BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their handling of the situation in Manipur.
During his address to a gathering, Rahul Gandhi recounted his visit to Manipur and highlighted the case of two women who were paraded naked by a group of individuals. Rahul expressed his shock and dismay, mentioning that despite his 19 years in politics, he had never witnessed such a grim reality as he did in Manipur.
Modi Murdered India in Manipur
“Blood everywhere, murder everywhere, and rape everywhere. While Modi spoke only for 2 minutes on Manipur out of 2 hours and 13 minutes long speech in Parliament. Prime Minister and his cabinet laughed and joked,” criticized Gandhi, taking a swipe at the BJP’s approach.
India is a family, and BJP wants to divide and destroy families, ’ the Congress leader said while sharing the sorrowful story of a mother who had lost her son in a tragic incident, leaving her with only a picture as a reminder. He also recounted the story of another woman who fell unconscious while recalling her painful experience.
The Congress leader pointedly questioned the lack of substantial discussion on the Manipur issue by the BJP government. He criticized PM Modi and the Union Cabinet ministers for their demeanor during the discussion in Parliament, implying that they didn’t take the issue seriously enough.
“During his 2 hours 13-minute speech, he spoke about Congress, me, INDIA alliance, but he dedicated only 2 minutes to Manipur,” noted Rahul Gandhi.
He said that his party would bring back the Manipur destroyed by the BJP, declaring it is a fight between the BJP and the Congress.
The Congress leader also extended his gratitude to the people of Wayanad for their unwavering support. He highlighted the contrast between his approach and that of the BJP and RSS, emphasizing that attempts to drive a wedge between him and his constituency only strengthen their bond.
Rahul, who was on coming down, further said that RSS and the BJP do not understand what a family is, but they try to divide families. They wanted to disqualify him for breaking your relation with me, but they don’t know that it will further stronger their relations, said Rahul Gandhi.
In his address, Rahul Gandhi condemned the violence in Manipur, pledging to work towards healing the region and restoring a sense of unity and peace.
