ISLAMABAD: Farooq Abdullah, president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party is experiencing unprecedented public resentment throughout Jammu and Kashmir due to its anti-poor and anti-middle-class policies.

In an interview with party officials at a gathering in Srinagar, according to Kashmir Media Service, Farooq criticized the BJP government’s anti-people policies. He claimed that the administration had failed to fulfil its commitments to give young people jobs, support artisans, and long-overdue relief to society’s poor and oppressed sections.

In reference to the delay of the elections, he stated that the BJP was avoiding them because of the fear surrounding them. The lives and means of support of those on the brink of poverty are not improving. The removal of food programs worsened people’s everyday struggles due to unchecked inflation and a high unemployment rate. How would the BJP respond to those whose food stole from their plates? How can a government deal with them after unleashing tax terrorism on the people? The BPL, Gujjar, Pahari communities and other marginalized groups suffer severely.

Farooq continued, “They are not prepared to face the people but are avoiding the polls under various pretexts. They pretended that the delineation of constituencies and updating the electoral rolls had already been done. They mentioned the unfavourable weather but offered no basis for further postponing the election.
