SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has reaffirmed the demand of Kashmiris for the implementation of UN resolutions to achieve a long-awaited solution to the Kashmir dispute through the right to self-determination.
In a statement issued from Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas emphasized that despite the massive troop presence and state machinery, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s humiliating defeat in the recent assembly elections in occupied Jammu and Kashmir clearly indicates that Kashmiris reject India’s occupation and refuse to compromise on their right to self-determination.
He characterized the elections as a staged drama by India to reinforce its illegal occupation, asserting that the results highlight Kashmir’s status as an international dispute.
Minhas stressed the importance of adhering to the UN’s January 5 resolution as essential for resolving the Kashmir conflict. “Permanent peace in South Asia can only be achieved by justly addressing the Kashmir dispute and respecting the will of the Kashmiri people,” he stated. The APHC contends that India has obstructed a fair solution for over seven decades and that military force cannot suppress the rightful struggle of the Kashmiri people.
The APHC condemned Prime Minister Modi’s actions on August 5, 2019, for violating UN resolutions related to Jammu and Kashmir. It reiterated that Kashmiris have the right to pursue a resolution aligned with their aspirations, and emphasized that the international community has a responsibility to help resolve the dispute to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.
The spokesman also called for an end to ongoing military suppression and actions against Kashmiris, urging global powers to facilitate a just resolution of the Kashmir issue.
