WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden has promised to continue working in order to end the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip during his last months in office, following he bowed out of his reelection bid.
“I’ll be working very closely with the Palestinians and with the Israelis to try to work out how we can get the Gaza conflict to end, and peace, and get all those captives’ home,” President Joe Biden said in a public call into his campaign headquarters, which has transitioned to supporting Kamala Harris.
Meanwhile, US Vice President Kamala Harris has launched her election campaign with a blistering personal assault on Trump and expressed resolve to win in November despite the “rollercoaster” of Biden’s shock exit.
Kamala Harris has received the support of enough Democratic delegates to win her party’s presidential nomination, CNN reported late Monday. She will need the support of around 1,976 pledged delegates out of 4,000 in order to decisively secure the Democratic presidential nomination during an official vote in the coming weeks, a number which US media reported she has now surpassed.
