WASHINGTON: Two Palestinian American families have sued the Biden administration over its inaction to evacuate their US relatives stuck in Gaza, Western media reported on Friday.

They said that US administration has been very active to evacuate for Israeli dual nationals.

Since the war between Israel and Hamas started on October 7, the US has arranged charter flights from Tel Aviv to Europe to evacuate Americans from Israel as many airlines stopped operations to the country.

According to the State Department, around 1,300 US Palestinians have been evacuated from Gaza to neighboring Egypt escaping relentless Israeli bombardment.

US fails to evacuate 900 Palestinian-Americans stuck in Gaza

The United States has so far not organized dedicated flights to the secure the exit of 900 US citizens still stuck in Gaza.

Yasmeen Elagha, who helped organize the lawsuit told media that the US government needs to do something for American Palestinians.

The State Department said the department is working to evacuate more Americans from Gaza.

According to Gaza health officials, Israeli bombardment has so far killed nearly 19,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.  According to UN estimates, up to 85 percent of the 2.3 million people in the Gaza have been displaced from their homes.

The lawsuit, filed in US District Court in Indianapolis, says the federal government has failed to protect US citizens in an active war zone and denied equal protection to Palestinian Americans, as per the US Constitution.

The excavation of Palestinian Americans wanting to leave the besieged enclave must be approved by both Israel and Egypt.
