LOS ANGELES: Hollywood actor Ben Affleck is focusing on his work and family after addressing his divorce from Jennifer Lopez in a recent interview with GQ.
According to sources cited by People magazine, Affleck considers the interview his final word on the matter and is now shifting his attention to his career and children.
“Ben’s doing well. The GQ story was kind of all about clearing the air one last time,” an insider told People.
“He’s done talking about JLo. He’s not proud that their marriage didn’t work out. He didn’t want to hurt her. But now he wants to just focus on his kids and work.”
Affleck and Lopez, who rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot the following year, finalised their divorce earlier this year after Lopez filed for separation in August 2024.
In his interview with British GQ, Affleck, 52, emphasised that their split was not driven by any scandal but rather the complexities of personal relationships.
“There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something,” Affleck said.
“But honestly, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting. There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue.”
The Gone Girl star acknowledged that his and Lopez’s differing approaches to public life played a role in their dynamic.
“My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers,” he told GQ. “As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things.”
Affleck, who shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, is reportedly focused on maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship while immersing himself in new projects.
“He’s very passionate about work and excited about upcoming projects,” the People source added. “He thrives when he’s busy.”
Meanwhile, Lopez, 55, has also spoken about life post-divorce, telling Interview Magazine, “Being in a relationship doesn’t define me. I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself.”
