LOS ANGELES: Hollywood actor Ben Affleck has reportedly broken his silence on ex-wife Jennifer Lopez’s new relationship with British actor Brett Goldstein, issuing what some insiders are calling a blunt warning rather than a blessing.
According to Radar Online, a source close to Affleck revealed that the Air star commented on Lopez’s new romance, saying, “I wish him luck… because dating JLo is no small thing.”
The source further quoted Affleck as warning that Goldstein is “about to be eaten alive by Hurricane JLo,” referring to Lopez’s demanding nature and high standards.
Affleck reportedly told confidants that Lopez’s lifestyle is not for the faint-hearted.
“Jennifer is demanding, has impossible standards and a lifestyle that not everyone can put up with. I couldn’t, and I consider myself a pretty balanced person,” he reportedly said.
The comments mark the first time Affleck has publicly acknowledged Lopez’s love life since their divorce was finalised in January 2025, 20 weeks after Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024.
The couple, often dubbed “Bennifer”, had rekindled their romance nearly two decades after calling off their first engagement in 2004. They married in July 2022 after reuniting in 2021.
Lopez, meanwhile, appears to be thriving in her new relationship. She has spoken openly about personal growth and the importance of independence.
“Being in a relationship does not define me,” she recently said, adding that she feels “more radiant than ever.”
Reports of Lopez dating her Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein surfaced in May 2025. An insider told In Touch Weekly that while the pair maintain professionalism on set, their off-camera chemistry is hard to ignore.
“They’re both professional and ready to deliver their lines when the cameras are rolling, but in between, it’s a flirt fest,” the source claimed.
“Brett fawns all over Jennifer, and she’s absolutely loving the attention,” the insider added, noting that Goldstein’s adoring nature is “exactly what she needs right now.”
The source also observed a positive shift in Lopez’s demeanour, saying there is a “new carefree energy about her” and that she is “much happier now.”
Lopez was previously married to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, and they share twins Max and Emme.
Affleck was married to actress Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, and they have three children—daughters Violet and Seraphina, and son Samuel.
