BRUSSELS: Belgium’s state secretary for digitalisation Mathieu Michel has said he has urged Apple company to upgrade the iPhone 12 software across European Union nations.
He said that based on an initial review by the Belgian regulator, the phone presents no risk to users. The Secretary said that while a review of the phone by the regulator is still going on, the first results were “supportive” and there was no requirement for a recall of iPhone 12 in Belgium.

Belgium said earlier that it would review potential health dangers associated with Apple’s iPhone 12, raising the prospect that other EU nations might ban the phone following France ordered a stop to sales due to breaches of radioactivity exposure restrictions.
Earlier, France’s junior minister for the digital economy Jean-Noel Barrot said that Apple should stop selling its iPhone 12 model in the country because of its high radiation levels.
The minister said the country’s regulator ANFR notified the Apple firm of its decision to halt iPhone 12 sales following it had conducted tests which demonstrated the smartphone’s Specific Absorption Rate was higher than legally permitted.
