BEIJING: China has said that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the symbol of solidarity of Islamic nations and Beijing will continue to strengthen cooperation and communication and with the OIC.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin expressed these views on Monday during his regular briefing in Beijing. The spokesperson said that Beijing will continue to further strengthen communication and cooperation with the OIC nations, help the member countries enhance their capacity building in several sectors including public health, and work toward new progress in bilateral ties.
Beijing-OIC cooperation
Wang Wenbin said that the 49th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers approved a text that spoke positively regarding China and said, it acknowledged the good progress of China-OIC cooperation and added that the OIC looked forward to further enhance cooperation with China.
The spokesperson said that they deeply appreciated this. He added that the session of OIC also welcomed the normalization of diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Tehran which was achieved with Beijing’s support.
He added that Beijing and the Muslim world enjoy traditional ties and friendship. The two sides strongly support each other in defending key interests and have engaged in productive Belt and Road cooperation.
The spokesperson further said that Beijing will continue to implement the Global Security Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative with OIC countries and jointly promote global peace, and sustainable development.
