KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has said that the commercial banks will remain closed to the public on July 3 (Monday) as it will be observed as a bank holiday.

A notification issued by the central bank said, “All banks/DFIs/MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on the aforementioned date. However, employees of the banks/DFIs/MFBs will attend the office as usual”.

The holiday will be on account of the new fiscal year starting July 1 (Saturday), however, the government has already declared a holiday on that day in connection with Eid ul Adha. The holiday has now been moved to July 3, though, on this day the bank employees will attend the offices. The banks will remain closed from June 28-30.

Practically speaking, all commercial banks across the country will also remain closed for six days — Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
