DHAKA: The schedule for the upcoming home assignment against India later this month has been released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

In April-May, India will embark on a tour to Bangladesh for a five-match T20I series, commencing on 28 April. Among these fixtures, three will be day-night encounters, all slated to take place in Sylhet.

With the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 set to be hosted in Bangladesh by the end of this year, this series assumes paramount importance in the preparation journey for both participating teams.

While Bangladesh seeks to capitalize on the home advantage, India endeavors to leverage their familiarity with the conditions to their benefit.

In the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings, India holds the No.3 position, whereas Bangladesh stands at No.9.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s squad secured qualification for this year’s tournament by finishing among the top six teams in the preceding edition held in South Africa in 2023. Despite reaching the semi-finals, they were eventually ousted by eventual champions Australia. On the other hand, Bangladesh secured direct qualification as the host nation.

India’s previous tour to Bangladesh occurred in July 2023, encompassing three T20Is and three ICC Women’s Championship ODIs. While India clinched the T20I series 2-1, the ODI series witnessed a dramatic momentum shift.

In the series opener, Bangladesh scripted history by securing their maiden victory against India in Women’s ODIs. However, the visitors staged a comeback in the subsequent match, setting the stage for a series-deciding clash. The final encounter concluded in a tie after Bangladesh dismissed India for 225 in pursuit of 226, with only three balls remaining. Consequently, both teams concluded the series sharing the spoils.
