Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad Hosts Reception to Celebrate Independence and National Day

ISLAMABAD: The Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad hosted a reception at a local hotel in Islamabad to celebrate the 52nd Anniversary of Independence and National Day on May 4, 2023. The event was attended by a large number of Pakistani officials, foreign diplomats, and officers of the High Commission.

During the reception, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan, Mr. Md. Ruhul Alam Siddique, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the cardinal principle of Bangladesh’s foreign policy, which is “Friendship with all and malice towards none.”

He also spoke about Bangladesh’s role in global peace, security, and stability and its important contributions to the United Nations Peace Keeping Operations.

Pakistan and Bangladesh historical relations

Mr. Siddique further emphasized the unique relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan, which is based on shared history and commonality of faith and culture.

He expressed his happiness about the growing bilateral trade between the two countries, which has grown over 50 percent during the last fiscal year. He also expressed hope that this trend will continue in the future.

The chief guest of the event was Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood praised the strong bonds between Bangladesh and Pakistan and highlighted the importance of interfaith harmony in promoting peace and stability. He also congratulated the people of Bangladesh on their 52nd Independence Day.

The event provided an opportunity for both countries to celebrate the independence of Bangladesh and to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The reception was a part of the ongoing celebrations of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, which is observed every year.
