BANGKOK: Thai police on Tuesday stated that they had arrested a 14-year-old suspected gunman after a shooting in a mall in Bangkok killed three people and injured four others.
The Metropolitan Police Detective Department in a post on Facebook said that that a 14-year-old suspected gunman had been arrested and was being interrogated over the firing incident at the Siam Paragon mall.
Emergency services shared an image of a police officer arrested and handcuffing an individual laying on the floor with face down.
Earlier the media shared videos showing scenes of chaos, with people running out of the exit and entrance doors of the mall.

Gun violence is quite common in Thailand. A former police officer killed 22 children in a nursery last year during a gun-and-knife attack, while in 2020 a soldier shot and killed at least 29 people and injured 57 in northeastern Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has voiced concern over the tragic incident.
He said he had ordered the police to investigate the matter adding that he is worried about public safety.
