BEIJING: A six-member delegation comprising youth from various cities in Balochistan province has concluded its 10-day visit to China.
The delegation, led by Mir Masood Khan Khetran, was invited by the Chinese government and visited Zhengzhou in Henan Province, as well as Beijing, the capital city.
During their visit, the delegation members, hailing from Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgoor, and Barkhan, engaged in separate meetings with senior Chinese officials and toured Chinese enterprises. Mir Masood Khetran shared insights before their departure from Beijing, highlighting the delegation’s interactions in 3–4 cities within Henan Province, including meetings with company leaders.
Khetran emphasized that they met with officials, city mayors, and the head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing. He conveyed the positive sentiments expressed by Chinese officials and business leaders, who showed a keen interest in investing in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, for mutual benefits.
Having witnessed China’s impressive socio-economic development over the past 30 years, Mir Masood Khetran commended the Chinese government’s efforts in infrastructure, roads, transportation networks, and cultural preservation. He expressed contentment with the ongoing development projects in Gwadar and other areas of Balochistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Khetran asserted that collaborative efforts between Pakistan and China could lead to shared development and prosperity. Chinese companies expressed readiness to make significant investments in Balochistan to contribute to mutual growth. He stressed the importance of the central government ensuring education, healthcare, and employment opportunities in the province.
Addressing a critical concern, Khetran highlighted the issue of electricity shortage and urged the government to take concrete measures to address this challenge for the benefit of the people in Balochistan. —APP
