ISLAMABAD: Bahrain’s Interior Minister, Lieutenant General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on security, counterterrorism, and regional stability.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry received the visiting dignitary upon his arrival at the airport, state-run APP news agency reported.

The visit is being carried out at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Lieutenant General Al Khalifa, soon after his arrival, visited the Pakistan Monument, where he was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of Islamabad Police.

He also paid tribute at the Martyrs’ Monument, laid a floral wreath, and offered prayers.

The Bahraini Interior Minister is set to meet with Pakistan’s top leadership during the upcoming visit, with the primary objective of enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas, including human trafficking prevention, counter-narcotics, security, and counterterrorism.

Last week, Pakistan and Bahrain agreed to boost cooperation in naval training and regional maritime security operations.

The consensus was reached during a meeting between Bahrain’s Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Thiab Saqer Abdulla Al-Nuaimi, and Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.

Pakistan and Bahrain have maintained close diplomatic, security, trade, and defence ties through training, joint security initiatives, and regular high-level exchanges.

In July, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also met his Bahraini counterpart, Lieutenant General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, to further strengthen security collaboration between both countries in various fields.
