Babar, Shaheen Reach Significant Career Milestones

KARACHI: Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, the star pacer, reached significant milestones in their careers following Pakistan’s victory over Ireland in the second T20I on Sunday.

Played at Dublin’s Clontarf Cricket Club, the match witnessed Pakistan securing a seven-wicket win by successfully chasing down the 194-run target in the 17th over, led by Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Azam Khan’s remarkable performances. With the series now leveled at 1-1, the match holds special importance for Babar and Shaheen.

Babar Azam became Pakistan’s most successful T20I captain, clinching his 45th victory in the format out of 78 matches, surpassing Uganda’s Brian Masaba. Concurrently, Shaheen completed 300 international wickets after dismissing three players in Friday’s match, achieving this milestone in 145 matches across Test, ODI, and T20 formats.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi acknowledged their achievements by presenting them with team jerseys. Furthermore, Pakistan set a new record by hitting 15 sixes in a T20I, with Fakhar leading the pack with six maximums. The series decider is scheduled at the same venue on May 14th.
