ISLAMABAD: Former captain and batting maestro Babar Azam and star pacer Shaheen Afridi remained the top performers for Pakistan in international cricket in 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement, followed by a tweet on its official social media account on Monday.

According to the PCB X handle, Babar Azam smashed 1,399 runs from 35 matches in 2023, with his highest score of 151. Babar Azam also retained the top spot in the ODI batters’ rankings last month. He also knocked three centuries and 10 fifties throughout the year.
In November last year, The number one batter stepped down as skipper of the Pakistan cricket team after a humiliating exit from the World Cup.
Shaheen Afridi as Top Performer
Like Babar Azam, the speedster and one of the dangerous bowlers of modern cricket, the left-arm Shaheen Shah Afridi also delivered a brilliant performance in the year 2023 while taking 62 wickets in 30 matches at an average of 27.80 with his best figure for 5 for 54.
At Present, Shaheen Shah Afridi is the skipper of the Pakistan T20 team after Babar Azam stepped down as leader in the quickest format.
In the women category, Pakistan’s former captain and stylish batter Bismah Maroof excelled as the leading performer for the team with an impressive 624 runs from 25 matches in 2023, including three half-centuries.

In the bowling category, Nashra Sundhu remained the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in international matches in 2023, grabbing 30 crucial wickets in 24 matches at an average of 23.13.
