ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov said on Wednesday that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have very close and friendly ties, and these relations are based on ancient historical traditions of both nations.
Addressing a ceremony organized to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, the envoy said that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attached great importance to Azerbaijan-Pakistan ties. The relations between the two brotherly nations are high in all areas.
The envoy said Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan when it declared independence.
The envoy said that Aliyev was the architect of bilateral relations and always attached immense importance to Pakistan.
Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan
Heydar Aliyev paid a visit to Pakistan on 9 to 11 April 1996. During his stay here, several documents were inked between the two countries.
The ambassador noted that that visit played an irreplaceable role in the development of ties between the two nations.
While sharing about Aliyev, the ambassador said that 2023 was declared the Year of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Aliyev proved he was a decisive and visionary politician when he first led Azerbaijan from 1969-1982.
As a result of his tireless efforts, great successes were achieved in industry, agriculture, economy, education, and culture, the diplomat said.
The adoption of Azerbaijan’s constitution in 1978 and the declaration of the Azeri language as the state language are the services of this great national leader.
