BAKU: An espionage cell linked to the French Embassy has been exposed in Azerbaijan, engaged in intelligence activities against representatives of countries considered “partners” of France, media reports say.
A French national, with a long-standing affiliation with the French intelligence community, voluntarily collaborated with Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies.
The collaboration led to the identification of dozens of French covert agents, some of whom served or are currently active in Azerbaijan, while others operate in neighboring countries and international organizations.
Azerbaijani special services were provided with evidence and documents detailing the activities of the French residency in the South Caucasus, the Middle East, Ukraine, and Moldova.
The magnitude of this revelation is anticipated to significantly impact the reputation of French intelligence.
