BAKU: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has accused Armenia of undermining international efforts on the peace treaty between the two countries, stating that Armenia’s anti-Azerbaijani rhetoric is detrimental to regional peace and stability.
The ministry’s response came in light of a press interview given by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on July 27. According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, Mirzoyan’s statements during the interview included claims against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as false interpretations of the negotiation process, agreements reached, and historical facts.
In their statement, the ministry expressed concern over Armenia’s anti-Azerbaijani campaign on various international platforms, which they believe hampers the efforts of international mediators in finding a peaceful resolution between the two nations.
Armenia’s Anti-Azerbaijan Campaign
“The Armenian side’s anti-Azerbaijani campaign on various international platforms, including rhetoric undermining the efforts of international mediators on a peace treaty, once again demonstrates Armenia’s lack of interest in regional peace and stability,” the ministry said.
The ongoing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan have long been a point of concern for the international community. Efforts to reach a lasting peace treaty have been ongoing, with the support of international mediators, but Armenia’s recent rhetoric has raised doubts about its commitment to finding a peaceful resolution.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of mutual respect for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and called for genuine efforts from both sides to foster regional peace and stability.
