Avatar, Titanic Producer Jon Landau Dies at Age 63

LOS ANGELES:  Jon Landau, a well-known producer of hit films like Avatar and Titanic, lost his battle with cancer and passed away in Los Angeles, his family said on Monday.

Jon Landau’s sister, Tina, confirmed his brother’s death by writing these words on X, formally known as Twitter, “My wonderful brother Jon passed away. I am heartbroken, but also very proud of his amazing life and the love and joy he shared with me and everyone who knew him or watched his movies.”

Who was Jon Landau?

He was born in New York on 23 July 1960, he came from a family of filmmakers. His parents, Edythe and Ely Landau, produced notable films, so it was natural for Jon to follow in their footsteps and work in the film industry. Hollywood was in his blood, many said. Some were of the view that Jon Landau lived an amazing life.

Prominent film maker James Cameron paid tribute to Jon Landau on Avatar’s official Instagram, calling him an amazing person who was kind, caring, tireless, and utterly unique man.

Cameron said losing his friend and closest partner feels like losing a part of himself.
