ISLAMABAD: A number of avalanches in the northeastern Afghan province of Badakhshan had killed at least 12 people in the last four days, a local official said on Friday.
Mountainous province borders Tajikistan, Pakistan
Following heavy snowfall, the avalanches took place in Deraim and Raghistan districts of the mountainous province that borders Pakistan and Tajikistan, said Natural Disaster Management’s Director Maulvi Mohammad Akram Akbari.
Akbari added that the avalanches also destroyed as many as 50 homes and injured 12 people.
