EDINBURGH: Police said on Sunday that a climber has died while another was wounded following an avalanche on the north face of Ben Nevis, Scotland. Police said the incident happened at around 3.35 on Friday.
Reports said that the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and a helicopter were sent to assist the climbers, amid challenging weather conditions in the area.
A 48-year-old climber was pronounced dead on the sport while a 40-year-old man was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Avalanche
A spokesperson for the rescue team said that they were called out following being alerted to the avalanche and located the two casualties.
It said that unfortunately one has sustained serious injuries and the other was wounded following an avalanche. The spokesperson that they are confronted with bad weather conditions in the area.

It took eight hours to shift the casualties to the hospital amid the bad conditions, the spokesperson further said.
