Authorities Thwart Narcotics Smuggling Attempts in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: Saudi authorities seized large quantities of narcotics including hashish, khat, and amphetamines after thwarting smuggling attempts across the country on Thursday.

In Jizan, border patrols thwarted three separate attempts to sneak in nearly 485 kilograms of khat and a Yemeni citizen was apprehended in one of the operations. Legal action has been taken against him.

Jizan border patrol also apprehended a national for promoting 18.1 kilograms of hashish found hidden in a car he was driving, according to Arab News.

The accused was found with a loaded firearm, which was seized and handed over to authorities.

Over at Al-Jouf region, police apprehended three people for promoting narcotic amphetamines. Authorities confiscated their mobile phones and a sum of amount found in their possession.
