ISLAMABAD: The Australian women’s cricket team demonstrated its dominance by overpowering the Pakistani women by 101 runs with a clean sweep of the ODI series by 3-0.
Third and final game of the ODI series
The third and final game of the ODI series held in North Sydney saw Beth Mooney’s highest score in international cricket, 133 off 105 balls, and a strong return of Meg Lanning with 72 from 70, helping Australia post a formidable 336 for 9. Annabel Sutherland also made a notable contribution, hitting 26 from 13.
Mooney’s aggressive and powerful display set the tone for the rest of the team and helped secure a strong score for the home side.
Pakistani bowlers put up a strong fight, with Fatima Sana (10-3-53) taking three wickets of Litchfield, King, and Garth. However, legspinner Tuba Hassan was smashed for 69 in 6 overs without taking a wicket, while Baig and Dar took two wickets each.
Record-breaking total proves too much for Pakistani Women’s cricket team
Despite tying their highest-ever ODI total against the Aussies (235-7), the challenge of competing against the reigning world champions proved to be too great.
A valiant effort led by captain Bismah Maroof, who scored 44 (71), went in vain as the team struggled to gain momentum due to poor performances by the openers, Shamas and Ameen, who scored 30 (50) and 34 (66), respectively.
The Australian team’s bowling performance, while dominant, was not without its flaws, as they delivered 25 wides throughout the match. Ash Gardner was outstanding, taking 3 for 30. Jess Jonassen picked up two wickets but only bowled five overs.
Beth Mooney was awarded the player of the match and the player of the series.
The Aussies demonstrated their dominance in the game, overpowering the Pakistani team with their skill, power, and strategy. This series win showcases the team’s excellence and cements their position as a force to be reckoned with in the world of women’s cricket.
