Australian’s David Warner and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman Joins PSL 10 Draft

ISLAMABAD: Following the confirmation of Australian cricket star David Warner’s participation in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the league announced that Afghanistan’s spin sensation, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, has also officially entered the player draft for the much-anticipated tournament.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed Mujeeb’s registration through PSL’s social media, accompanied by a video reel showcasing some of his most remarkable performances from previous PSL seasons.

“The Afghan spin sensation Mujeeb Ur Rahman officially enters the [PSL Draft],” the league’s announcement read, marking Mujeeb as the first Afghan cricketer and the 25th foreign player to register for the milestone season.

Mujeeb, a key player for Afghanistan’s T20I squad, has built an impressive T20 career. At just 22 years old, he has played 244 matches, taking 261 wickets at an average of 23.70. His best bowling figures stand at a remarkable 5/15.

Mujeeb previously represented Peshawar Zalmi in the 2021 and 2023 seasons, claiming six wickets across 11 matches.

Star-Studded Player Roster

Mujeeb joins an illustrious roster of international players confirmed for PSL 10. Australian opener David Warner, alongside teammates Usman Khawaja, Alex Carey, and Sean Abbott, has also registered.

New Zealand’s Tim Southee, Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, and Daryl Mitchell; England’s Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, and Jason Roy; Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman; and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza are among the international players set to feature in the draft.

The registration window has drawn 25 foreign players from cricketing nations worldwide.

Draft and Tournament Details

The PSL 10 draft, scheduled ahead of the tournament’s opening on January 11, 2025, in Gwadar, Balochistan, will follow a pick order finalized by the PCB.

Two-time champions Lahore Qalandars will have the first pick in the platinum category, followed by Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and defending champions Islamabad United.
