SYDNEY: Australian Prime Minister will visit Beijing in November to hold meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, local media reported on Saturday.
In a statement, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, “I look forward to visiting Beijing, a significant step towards guaranteeing stable and productive ties”. He welcomed the progress they have made to return Australian products to the Chinese market.
Australian Prime Minister to Visit China Soon
Beijing slapped hefty tariffs on some Australian exports in 2020, flexing its economic muscle at the height of a dispute with Australia’s previous government.
According to AFP, now there has also been progress on diplomatic ties, with China earlier agreeing to free Australian media person Cheng Lei, who was arrested for over three years on espionage charges.

Albanese’s visit would be the first to Beijing by an Australian PM since 2016. He stated, “I look forward to engaging with Chinese President and the Prime Minister in Australia’s interest,”.
