ISLAMABAD: While on vacation in Fiji resort, an eight-year-old Australian kid is believed to have died from electrocution.
The child was living with his parents at the Club Wyndham Denarau Island Resort on the west coast of Fiji’s main island. His family has recognized him as Cairo Winitana from Sydney.
He was discovered last Thursday, according to Fiji police, lying “motionless” close to a hotel flower garden. He could not be revived despite being transported to a hospital in the adjacent city of Nadi.
The post-mortem will need to confirm the first information, according to Fiji police, which indicates that the infant was allegedly electrocuted.
They also stated that although the youngster lived in Australia, he was a citizen of New Zealand. According to a spokesperson, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs is providing assistance to the family.
In a Facebook post, Amber de Thierry, his mother, said: “I loved you, my son, from the moment I found out I was carrying you and will love you forever more.”
The family was now confronted with “the heartbreaking job” of transporting their son back to Australia, according to an internet fundraising started by a relative. As you can probably guess, he stated that this loss has been extremely traumatic for our family.
Cairo will be remembered as “a shy, tough little kid who loved his football,” the Milperra Colts, the team he played for, wrote in a tribute on Facebook.
Resort representative
A resort representative called the death a “tragic accident” and offered the family “heartfelt condolences.” According to the resort’s spokeswoman, a thorough investigation would be conducted, and it would ultimately collaborate with the police and local authorities.
Denarau Island, located around 5 km (3.1 miles) northwest of Nadi, Fiji’s third-largest city, is renowned for its opulent resorts and hotels.
